Taking the First Steps to Becoming a Pilot

The CAA says:

Before committing any significant time and money to flying, a sensible option when you are researching schools is to take a trial lesson to make sure flying really is for you.

So, what are the first steps to becoming a pilot?

The first step is to book and have a trial flight this gives you the opportunity to meet the school staff the flight instructor and the aircraft it also gives you some hands-on time in the aircraft at the controls.

Trial flying lessons involves a pre-flight briefing with one of our instructors who will introduce you to the aircraft and all of its controls and instruments after this he or she will take you up for your first flight during the flight you will be given the opportunity to handle the controls of the aircraft under the watchful eye of your instructor after the flight there will be a debriefing and then you will be issued with a first flight certificate this trial flight can be logged and count towards the hours required for the JAR private pilot licence to book a trial flight simply telephone 01384 221727.

Buyer beware.

An important consideration is how long your training organisation has been trading - Only the good ones stand the test of Time.
